Am I right that an M6 cannot transmit from abroad?

I am off to Cyprus in a few days, and have invites from a couple of 5B4's to visit their stations, as they are within a couple of kilometres of where I will be staying.
But I'm pretty sure I'm not allowed, as an M6 Foundation holder, to transmit from abroad.

Can someone in the know clarify?

True, the M6 is not a CEPT equivalent licence, I think (not 100%) that only the Full/Advanced is.
Try asking The Reading and Surrey Gas Board or Ofcom, they should be able to give a definative answer.

HOWEVER you could use THEIR licence under THEIR DIRECT SUPERVISION with the licence holder's operating privileges. (Check the rules with them first)

Cheers de Tony

You're quite right Tony. It is only the UK Full licence that enjoys the Reciprocal Rights and is allowed to TX abroad.

BUT, apparently, some countries do make allowances for other UK licences. I believe ChrisC made enquiries and found he was able to use his 2E1xxx in the USA. I'm not sure how or why, but maybe he could tell Tim what steps he took.

Hi

Agree with Tony and Steve.

Good reason to slowly work towards a full licence to have CEPT reciprocation. It's very useful facility to have (more important to me than 400watts or building a transmitter) and I have used it abroad.

Hope you enjoy your trip Tim.

Best Wishes

Dave

I was told I could use it BUT I believe that they were wrong - the ARRL that is.
Just use THEIR license at their station and you'll be fine
