Has anyone had experience of the W5GI dipole?
I am looking to replace my monoband 40m dipole with
a multibander.
cheers, adonis

Hi Mark,
Thanks for the link - good stuff.

I really do need to homebrew a multiband dipole which is no longer than 100 feet
and tunable between 80m - 10m.
I'll post back when I've has a look at the pros and cons.

Oh well, back to my reading.
cheers, adonis

Yep. I have space for a 133 foot antenna but, the ends of each leg are too low
with respect to ground because I have to bend them to fit.

With a 100 foot length of wire I should be able to get the wire ends up about
25 feet above ground level. Hopefully, the antenna should be more efficient.

I think at the end of the day it'll be swings and roundabouts but hey-ho
its worth a go.
cheers, adonis

Quick update:

I've had a quick look for a multiband dipole specific to my
needs i.e. 80m - 10m and at least resonant on 80m, 40m, 20m and 10m.
The WARC bands of 12m and 15m would be a bonus. The other criteria
was that its total length not exceed 100 feet. It's final configuration will
be flat-top not inverted V shape.

I first looked at the W5GI (see previous post) and this ticked most of my boxes
but there are discrepancies in band resonance between real world and modelled scenarios.
This would be my second choice antenna for a future date.

I then looked at a G5RV derivative by ZS6BKW and this looks really good, providing you have
a G5RV to play with. This variant enables you to work more of the bands on which the G5RV
is resonant and also allows you to work new bands. All you do is cut 7 plus feet off your wire
and add 11 feet of twin feed to the existing ribbon. This shifts the resonant frquencies and allows you more bandwidth/
more bands. The modelling data is great as well so you can see what to expect before you build or buy.
Link below (96 pages devoted to one antenna build/model - really good):

I then looked at the W3DZZ and although its a bit longer than I want, it ticks all the other boxes.
I also need to brew traps for 40m so the homebrew/learning aspect will be strong in this design of antenna
as well.

Two links below on how to build:
