That is the exact same one as I used and it certainly worked for me Andrew but I'm not saying that it will work for you but well worth trying,it say's a loss of 0.25db but that is a very small loss, and definitely nothing if you're going to keep the tvi away :thumb:

It totally depends WHAT is causing TVI (if you do cause it). A Low-Pass Filter isn't a Hogwart's Box that works magically, but they do play an important role in helping prevent TVI.

What a TVI Filter does is cut-off (or. more accurately, heavilly attenuate) any signals above about 30MHz from continuing down the co-ax to the aerial. So it prevents your set broadcasting harmonics on higher frequencies that might interfere with neighbour's equipment. BUT, if there's a problem with your set or aerial set-up you could cause interference in other ways.

It'll almost certianly do no harm (or very very little - i.e. the minor loss that Nomad mentions) other than introduce another two PL259s and another patch cable into your set-up (additional plugs and patches represent potential points of failure). On the whole the small loss and small additional risk of using a low-pass filter is overcome by the potential benefit of having one there.

You've mentioned a "small amp" . Is that Small by American Superbowl Standards (i.e. under 2000 watts) or properly small (25/30w or 50w)?

Thank you both for the above information.. I will purchase low pass filter of E_bay.. asap, when I said small amp, should have said medium, as I have a B300P amp.. which I would like to use.

I am currently using a Lincoln radio straight in line with a A99 aerial which works quite well and I have made some good QSL contacts, but is lacking in the main.

Therefore I want to inprove my set up, right or wrong, so I purchased a B300P amp plus a Zatagi HP202 swr/watt meter, which I would like to use, but not wanting to bring attention to myself. Would like to put my aerial up higher but thats a no.. no..

My I ask one more thing, should I use the swr/watt meter in line all the time.

Any help and avise on the above would be great.

Best Regards

I used that type of filter when I was causing T.V.I and it did solve the tvi issue, but it turned out that I had dodgy coax/feeder and I don't use any linear's or high power at all Andrew.

There are two schools of thought about that: some say "Clearly YES" others say "Heck NO!". :D

If you're talking about an 11m set-up then, personally, I'd say NO. Having the meter in place is another lossey bit of kit, and the additional patch lead and plugs etc are more points of potential failure. I'd make sure the aerial and set-up is as good as it can be, then remove the meter. Put it back and check again after any change or every couple of months or so to make sure things are still right.

If there's any change in your signal reports, or the TX Meter, or even some really heavy weather or something and you're a bit worried, then it is only five minutes work to put the meter back in line for a quick check. Once you've reassured yourself, remove it again.
