HI

Not sure whether to put this in Ch34 Cafe or the CT Bar n Grill. So mods if you are earwigging, move it to where you think it's the best place to be.

I just printed out a QSL card to send to a French station I QSOed a couple of days ago on the UKCB channels. Cornwall to Calais is quite a rare QSO.

I'm not a QSLer myself but will respond to requests as I know this is an important put of the hobby to many Hams, CB'ers and :pirate: s.

So what's your views on QSLing?

Are you a collector or are QSL cards just more clutter in a dusty old shoe box?

Do you prefer eQSLs?

Best wishes

I never ask for QSL cards but if I'm asked I will send one. If I work another CT station then I'll send one regardless.

P.s. 5 QSL cards sent to various CT members this morning. :)

Back in the 80s and 90s i used to collect qsl cards and have 100s of them tucked away in a box in the shack, but since ive got back into the hobby again i havent asked to qsl but if a station asks for a card i will always send one and hopefully receive one.

had a look thru my old ones the other night, brought back some memories :thumb:

I don't go out of my way to QSL, but will upon request - however, the return rate I've experienced this year is only about 25%.

I only do if asked but find a lot of German and Italian stations are really into cards
so oblige them of course it can be quite expensive these days with the cost of
mail so prefer e-qsl.

Hi

Thanks for the replies.

The low precentage of returns is quite worrying considering the expense.

I'll still QSL if asked. But if approached by a "QSL shark" as I have heard them being described, I don't know. In the dim distant past I just pretend that I couldn't hear them and quickly QSYed. Naughty I know but have to draw the line somewhere. If QSLing ends up to be expensive, I will just set up an email account for that purpose and email them out.

If any CT members I have spoken to recently wishes to QSL, just PM me and I'll email it out.

Best wishes

Dave

Like most of the replies above, I don't feel any great urge to swap-a-postcard for every QSO, but I keep a stock of cards for my own callsigns (11m and Amateur), plus some CT QSL Cards, on hand to send out if someone requests one or it is a particularly significant QSO.

I often help the local RAF Air-Cadet radio group when they're doing their Foundation Courses by lurking on a pre-agreed frequency so the Students can 'find' a Station to contact for their Practical Assessment, and I make a point of sending an individual card to each youngster that makes Contact with me on HF. I think it is good encouragement for them to have someting to strick on the wall with "Congratulations on your first HF Contact" written on the back :D

That's a good use of QSL cards, to encourage the new generation of radio op's :D
