Ken,
I havnt tried it yet mate thnx for asking.
I have been experimenting with the K-PO on ssb, and a couple of ppl have said it sounds a bit warbley/scratchy, and the standard mic sounds better !!
With that in mind I have swapped back to original mic, as ssb is the most important to me, i can live with slightly quiet fm....
no problem Nik just glad your sorted mate :dog:
UPDATE:
I have been using the K-PO powermic all evening. I removed the battery (9v pp3) and plugged a mains adapter with variable output (set to 9v) and connected it to the battery terminal/plug thingy inside the K-PO mic.
I asked a few people to listen while I dead-keyed, and lo & behold, I have absolutely no buzzing whatsoever !
I can now have the mic set as high as I want, just before it over-deviates, so my audio on FM is louder and nicer sounding than the standard mic, and never have to buy another battery for it.
There is just about enough room for the extra power wire to come out the bottom of the mic next to the actual mic lead, so the back panel of the mic screws on as normal.
Result !

edit : I just need to try it again on ssb and maybe find a sweet spot for the mic gain on the rig, so it still sounds nice on there as well as FM.

ayup nik, its a funny thing with kpo mikes .. ive got one sounded superb on the 148 i had, but the 3900 i had it didnt seem to like ssb , i had to turn mike gain down to about 3/4 and find a happy medium with the slider, this is a problem with power mikes u get some reports ya to loud pal ! its distorting sounds crap.. then others great sounds awsome mate ... i think best way is to get a report off someone you know at a resonable distance away and set it up, turn it down for ya locals, and dont be tight buy a battery ! all that money under your mattress u will need a ladder to get in bed soon , lol, good luck talk to ya soon , jules. :cb:

Just done a bit of a tidy-up with the mic, thought I would post a pic !

You can just see, at the bottom of the mic, I have cut a small slot for the new power supply wire to enter the mic. The power supply wire then feeds through the coiled mic lead, then under the radio and to the actual mains adapter.
Its very neat, and so far is working very very well, no buzzing and constant power to the mic (which I have turned up to the point just before over-deviation on audio).
I can have maximum audio, and not worry about replacing the battery ever again :)
Also, you can see the clip-on ferrite thingy, at the radio end of the mic lead, which has stopped the dreaded feedback I was getting. It aint pretty, but it works, and thats all I care about !!!

Just to add - I have since fitted the same mic to my new K-PO dx5000 V5. I just disconnected the blue wire to pin 4, clipped it off so it couldnt touch any of the pins, and it works fine (and sounds very very good so I am told) on the dx5000 !
