Welcome to the official Charlie Tango DX Group CB And Amateur Radio Forum. You are visiting the UK's biggest and most active CB Radio club.. We hope you enjoy your visit.

Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

You're currently viewing our forum as a guest. This means you are limited to certain areas of the board and there are some features you can't use. If you join Charlie Tango you'll be able to access member-only sections, and use member-only features such as customizing your profile, sending personal messages, voting in polls, viewing modifications and more.

Good for you Stephen. :thumb:

Three tips for you:
(1) Read the Book
(2) Read the questions Carefully, TWICE, before you answer any
(3) Turn up for the Exam sober and hangover free ;)

I took my exams at the local RAF Air Cadets Radio Club (as a 'Guest Civilian') and when I was sitting my Intermediate, a few of the RAF Staff were doing their Foundation. They decided it was a piece of cake and went out on the Saturday evening, prior to the Exam on Sunday, for a "few scoops". Due to their TERRIBLE state the following morning, only one passed and four failed the Foundation Exam, which shamed them badly as Cadets as young as 12 passed it.

That beer stuff  is an Evil Thing ;)

Good luck with it stephen, have a go on Hamtests and do some mock tests to boost your confidence. As above , read the question twice, they throw swerve balls at you ;)

as I was told: the Foundation exam is not designed to be failed. There are no trick questions. As long as you have a couple of hours each week to study the book and try the mock tests, which is what I did.

There are no trick questions.
Perhaps not, but I know people who have agreed that it is VITAL to be very careful when reading the question as they do sometimes switch Polarity. I have seen numerous people go  at the end of the Foundation when they realise they got a couple of question ass-backwards and therefore lost the points for them.

Instead of the expected "How do you DO something?" the question might easily be "How do you AVOID something?".
There's an acre of difference between "What causes TVI?" and "what do you do to avoid TVI?".
Or perhaps you're so used to hearing about 13.8 VOLTS that it'll throw you if they suddenly include an Ohm's Law calculation based on 13.8 AMPS.
