Just bought a new original Modulator antenna from ebay, had one of these 25yrs ago and it worked well for a cheap mobile antenna. I cant believe that the copys of this are going for the same price..

The "Voyager" from Thunderpole is a Modulator copy and have very similar reports so not bad copies.

To be fair its only a base loaded whip antenna BUT they do seem to work very well. Used one myself (a copy) for ages with no problems. Cheap and cheerful, perfect!

I had a Marina TC Coupe........TC stood for "Twin Carbs" as it run the old MGB 1800 "B" series motor with the twin SU carbs. The old antique 1800 certainly only had one cam.
I remember it nearly scraped its door handles on corners and I indeed had a Modulator on that too.

I beleive Les is still trading but have been told that his producrs our now built abroad and imported by him. A far cry from the days when he made everything in a lockup unit on the Sandwich industral estate.

I recently bought myself a new Modulator, as I remebered them being great antennas when I was on the CB last time.

The coil is indeed smaller than they used to be. I read in CB mag that this was because they found that they performed better with a shorter coil.

Now are you sure??. I have an old one (1982) and a new one and they look the same to me. I've not had them next to each other ,so you may be correct.
It's funny how things look smaller when you get older........Yamaha RD350LC fuel tanks is one, and I'm sure Burton's Wagon Wheels were far larger when I was a kid in the 70's too!!....LOL
I am sure.

A friend of mine has an older one, and the coil is around 3" longer than on the one I have.

I will have to see if I can get a picture of them side by side.

Ive got a original modulator here, I dont know how old it is but its getting on a bit, Ive had the odd problem with the rivets that make the connections to the wire coil from time to time, but once resurected its back to doing a top job again.

As for the Marina coupe, My buddy had a red coupe 'TC' with wide chrome wheels , jacked up on the back with a set of 'Cherry bombs' coming out both sides, they were about 3 feet long each. we were about 18/19 at the time, I used to drool over that car, it was the biz back then or so i thought.
