Charlie Tango DX is a group dedicated to Hobby Radio Users in all forms, whether CB, Amateur, PMR446, Scanning and Short Wave Listening.
We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

Just reading a few topics, and it got me thinking?

I was a member of the WHISKEY HOTEL group in the mid/late 80's I seem to remember?
they were DORSET Based,

Does Any body remember them? I guess they've long gone,

my call was WH50

by the way the "muppet" handle was GRIFTER , (as in the push bike) showing my age!

Should of mentioned this 9 months ago when I joined,
73 Andy

I remember the Dorset Knights. But I think that was in the 70's. They had some nice QSL cards I used for EC.
The biggest advance in radio technology EVER, was the invention of the credit card.

Shows how old I am, I had an original chopper in orange (that was the only colour they came in at first)
3 gears with a knob on the shifter, not a Tbar like the later ones....... also had a longer seat than
the later ones................... that was about 10 years before the GRIFTER....................doh

LOL . . I remember those too. The original ones had the longer seat and the rake of thehandlebars was actually adjustable. It was quickly changed for the shorter seat and the 'bars fixed with a weld to be vertical as too many "Easy Rider wannabee" kids went over azz-over-apex backwards following an overcooked wheelie.

That was also before elbow pads, knee pads, carbon-fibre gloves, spinal supports and crash helmets . . . . . if it happened today Raleigh Bikes would be sued to extinction.

Assuming no one minds that the thread seems to have a double life I recall my Raleigh Chopper. None of your three speed rubbish mine had 5 gears so there! A mate at school who's Chopper only had three gears decided we should have a race (like you do)......

The result was I broke my coller bone  This was 1976, the hot Summer, I was 11. Bless.

DX Clubs included,

Whiskey Novembers - Wolverhampton based.
Delta Yankee - Local 'Club' with regular meetings.
Charlie Alpha - Craven Arms, Shropshire DX Club. Still have club QSL cards.
Sierra Foxtrot - Sherwood Foresters DX Group - Nottingham. Club QSL cards and pen!
Black Country Breakers - Well attended meets, disco's etc.

All seems a very long time ago.

AHHHHH Good old days, A much simpler time .......... no Mobile phones, No microwave ovens, Big Betamax recorders, Monkeyboots, Lime green luminous socks, 19 hole doc martins etc... And the most trouble we ever got in was due to nicking pints of milk of doorsteps coming back from camping...

I remember back in the 70s when I was about 11/12 I ask out this girl because she had a 5 speed Chopper bike in like a metalic blue colour relationship didnt last long she hated my BMX, by the time she was about 16 I then relised she was quite fit even without the Chopper bike LoL but by then she thought I was a PR*TT so I missed out again, Oh yeah sorry back on thread I hated the 80s could 'nt stand all that yuppy Cr*p, and also remember the mass CB eyeball(in the AM days from mid 70s to legalisation day) at the Royalty Nightclub in Southgate North London used to see some sites there sort of the voices/handles
on the radio dont match up to what the person looked like especialy some of lady breakers  and we had a shop called Skyriders in the Hertford Road in the Enfield Lock area where everyone one went to because basicly they sold it all everything radio,(but never sold any AM or SSB radios ;) ;) ) strange thing was they slowly went out of buisness after legalistion came in ^o)
I thoght Whiskey Hotel rang a bell to me I used to be 26WH105 but I never used the call sighn I was sighn up by 14WH101 Jeff anyway I found someold QSL cards that got sent to me by other WH members
