Hi every one. As I am also a SWL, I use a all of my radios for comparison from time to time, so I thought it was high time to get a Yaesu FRG7 so after some bidding on eBay I won myself just that a Yaesu FRG 7 arrived today excellent condition very clean indeed. Once I got used to the controls I was impressed to hear the stations I was tuned to very stable indeed. Has any one else got the FRG 7? What are your opinions on this fine old analogue radio? Using a 40` end fed into a Global 1000 ATU. Mike. |

Are you feeding the Global into the radio via the main antenna feed or via feed 2 or B or what ever it is? Because unless someone has done a mod to it. They do not receive as well on the broadcast bands via the second feed. I don't remember why or what the mod is. But they do. I brought a Trio, which I still have rather than a FRG simply because I liked Trio's & mine has a 100 khz marker fitted as standard. But the FRG-7's certainly had a VERY good reputation at the time. Edited to add..Adding a 100khz marker is a worth while & the mod can be found below http://www.foxtango.org/frg7/foxtangofrg7.htm Edited by Listener, Saturday, 26. March 2011, 10:05.
