just having a flick through an old edition of passport to world radio and theres an article on HF receivers for the pc, it's a winradio g303i, now I've had a look for them online and back on 2004 the were a tad off 500 pounds, the still cost 350-400 now, but was wondering if there is a cheaper alternative that anyone would know about?

I was reading about someone using one of these PC based recievers as a Bat audio reciever.

For the price they look good value.
The biggest advance in radio technology EVER, was the invention of the credit card.

i use an icom ic-pcr1000 and i love it. you have to use the attenuator for the lowest of the low frequencies and i wouldn't recommend the software that icom issued with the radio (i use talkpcr and ham radio deluxe) but it is a really good receiver in my opinion.

in fact, it's persuaded me to seriously consider the flex radio range of radios for transmitting...once i've sorted out my finances :P

had a scout around ebay and found a couple of cost effective kits that might be worth having a play with, sadly have to be shipped from the US though

6m & HF SDR kit

seems a neat little kit, and for under 20 quid too ;)

winradio g303i, is an exelent pc based unit
for the cost i would buy a HF set much better receive
and if you buy the right one it should have cat interface built in

by going down the HF route you then have the option when or if
you take your foundation you will have a HF set ready.
if you look at my youtube channel i used to use a Kenwood TS-450s

TS-440 / TS-450 can be bought for well under £350
