Hello Guys, Greetings from Sirio Land. Today I have been with the team of Sirio. Francesco and Stefania Grazzioli and also with the designers of the Gain Master and many other antennas that are in the family Sirio. WOW, interesting people indeed. I have seen how, where the GM was born, the place where they test them at extreme temperatures, the "cb car" and also where the antennas are made, parts made and assembled.

Trust me the engineers "are on there game" AMAZING ideas these guys have... Maybe, who knows but maybe there could be a smaller antenna 1/2 Gain Master as there is no real reason why not. Depends on what the market needs.

When you see all the things that are needed to realise a project then you understand why antennas are expensive. WOW amazing..
Antennas all made in Italy, worked in Italy and also parts made in house IN ITALY

Sorry, vodafone access from hotel @20e per hour so more news after work ends here and am home during the weekendPosted Image

My step son married a Italian girl and they have been living there ever since, if Sirio do make a 1/2 Gain Master in the future then I'll ask him to bring me one home. ;)

Nice one Simon for sure, send my regards to Stefania please.
He has invite me over to the factory also.....maybe if my company gives me some time off I will take up their kind offer too.
I have been saying all along these know their stuff and not many CB or even Ham antenna manifacturers invest $1 million USD in an Antenna test chamber.
Just maybe you do get what you pay for with their products........73 Dave

What struck me as odd, was the lack of antennae on the Siro factory roof! You'd think they'd have the entire range up there!
Thanks for the mini-report though, interesting.

Sirio have 2 telescopic antenna masts at the corner of each building for mounting and testing the antennas. Advanced and expensive software CAD that can show the efficiency of an antenna before they make the initial circuits and test the design.
Nothing is left to chance here i can tell you. The chamber is amazing and for testing the high frequency antennas and it is a really incredible thing to see i can tell you.

FT857D, RCI 2950 and another radio provide the frequencies for the antenna tests as well as a massive amp for testing the power into the antennas. I have seen the GM test reports and remember guys 500w FM, SSB and it will be ok.

Pre Version of the antenna had the metal cover
Current has the metal cover and the rubber nipple.

Photo this time is from the Lab. It is where Marco and Lorenzo the designers of the GM sit and this little beauty is what they test power and how the antenna behaves. After the antenna (example cb antenna) is up on the roof and tested with ultra violet to see how she warms up during the process of the power testsPosted Image

What a nice little trolley full of Toys :D

Quite apart from the 857, 2950, 2/70 rig and Microwave generator on the top row, there are a few other gadgets that I wouldn't mind having in the Shack.
Especially that Amp!Posted Image

I think that'd be the Bargain of the Week Dave.
Your good friend and chum Dave at RadioWorld  has them listed for £3,450.00. OUCH! LINK to RadioWorld Listing.

Of course some of the American radios sites are already slamming the BLA1000 as "CB Junk" and "Splatter Monster" simply because it has the "RM" label on it and doesn't have FCC Type Approval. But I think, if Santa would like to pop one in the Sack for me next Christmas, I wouldn't be too upset.

mmmm nice test chambers!

it really does make me want to spend the money on a gainmaster now. I can't justify it though as I know I wont be allowed to keep it up in the air all the time and putting it up and taking it down will be a pain in the bum

Looks a lot like a sheilded Anechoic chamber to me...........I wonder if Solarcon have invested $1m million USD in one.........oh yes but their antennas are cheaper though.....I wonder why???. Nice photos Mr Wizard.

Well i'm in the process of raising some cash for as new amp for 20 meters, i'm going for a new ETO Alpha ,serious gear that could make 2500 watts.
The RM is nice looking but realy I think overpriced for what it is. I think RM have moved up market for sure with this unit and certainly isn't a cheap CB Amp........but it reminds me of the new Skodas.......who would pay £3k for an RM when ETO,OM Power, Linear Amp UK,Ten Tec, Expert and Acom do some real serious tackle for this price.
It does look Uber cool with its blue lighting.
I wish RM all the luck in moving the Brand into the Ham market.
As for my "Good Friends and Chum @ Radioworld"..........I'll pass comment on that I think......LMAO

Ahh, no doubt in the process of applying for an Ofcom "N.o.V." for a bit of Mars Bounce perhaps ;)

Jesus the tubes for those things cost more than my amp does!

I was talking at the club last night and a chap said "well for 400w at the antenna you need at least a kw" another person said "ah, 2E1, that means for 50w out you'll need a good couple of hundred watts" :D

I'm glad some of the boys there know what they are talking about. These coax runs are uber lossy!

This is a Sirio 70cm base antenna. What else do you think it was? Or was the prototype of?
