this may have been covered before but here goes.what is the correct order to set up my rig, power reducer(so as not to overdrive the amp),amplifier and matcher? i will be using the rigs built in swr meter as unfortunately the budget wouldnt stretch to a swr/matcher combination.and do i tune this all up with the amp on or off.hope someone can make sense of this as the last thing i want to do is blow something.thanks.

Rig---power reducer---amp---matcher, BUT the reading on the rig will not be the reading the amp will see when it is on, do you really need a matcher and will it cope with the amps power? I see you have a anytone in you profile? I guess you are talking ssb power?

I think your best bet would be to not use the matcher and to get your antenna swr down.

yes its ssb mostly but as i posted elsewhere during sustained rainfall the swr climbs two or three points then returns to normal when weather improves.it was for this reason i thought best to use a matcher.swr normally 1.2 on triple5.all equipment rated well within limits

So swr goes unto 1.5 in the rain? If so I would not bother with the matcher. I still would be inclined to get a swr meter after the amp.
