Coax question,
May have been asked many times before. Looking at getting the best from my homebase set up, would up grading my existing RG58 to RG213 coax make a noticeable difference to the performance of my set up, in the interests of keeping coax loss down to the minimum?

Regards

it all depends how long your cable(s) will be and the quality of the RG213 you might want to use.

but bear in mind that you can't make the same 'nice' tight corners as you do with the RG58. also you will need bigger holes through the wall(s) if needed.

all in all, general RG213 will be better then RG58 if same quality coax is being used...

RG213 does have lower loss than RG58. But for an 11m station with less than an ENORMOUS long run of co-ax the straight answer is "No" it won't make a noticeable difference.

On an 11m CB Homebase, your co-ax losses with RG 58 are going to be pretty minimal with any reasonable length of co-ax run. So, although the 213 would have less loss, it would be very, very hard to actually note the difference. Unless, of course, it is really cheap-n-'orrible RG58, with a few wisps of grannie's hair as braid and a core that look like it should be on a doorbell.

It'd be more funny if it wasnt true. I took apart some old coax from a magmount I had and i dont think there was even a single strand in there. :(
