It certainly looks like a good reciever. You will have to let us know how it performs. My old Trio is probably going to be updated soon. |

hi guys picked radio last night not in work today i left it on all night to charge memory battery and this morning checked a few things out no key pad bounce, backlight bright ,frequency digits ok no spotting all knobs ok no crackling or noises . connected discone and 70 foot long wire and away it went to say its good on vhf is a under statement its brilliant, then on 6622,5649 etc recieves clear as a bell also great the amount of noise you can get rid of , i also ran my r2000 at the same time later on , on the strong signals not allot between them but the r5 is better at picking up weaker signals but on vhf r5 wins hands down. i need to use it some more to get things right . minus side no dimple on the tunning knob ,which is annoying and boy does it get hot ! but on the whole its great i see why they get such good reviews next thing on my list is a remote control for it and a yg-88 c1 am filter . |

We usually think about starting the Net at about 11:00 if conditions are suitable, but more often it starts at about 14:00. It isn't possible to 'reserve' a frequency on the Amateur Bands, so it's a case of finding a clear one on the day (and if there are Competitions running, that's sometimes difficult). What we do is post the frequency on the Spot Box chat feature on the front page of the site once the Net is established, so keep an eye there. It'll be on the Amateur 40m Band, and in the section where Voice mode is acceptable, so between 7.040 and 7.200MHz |
