I have just seen on the Lidl site that there will be a £7.99 SW RX availabe from the 28th of this month. It will probably be a fairly poor reciever, but for £7.99 it has to be worth a try, dosn't it? Who knows it could be an exellent radio.

Nice one, I'll be sure to have a look! They often get some decent things in there that only hobbiests would buy. |

Or buy two and tune them both to the same frequency, making slight adjustments until you can resolve the SSB signal

As northern35s said two radios & beat the signals against each other is the old fashioned method. BUT that method does not require that the second signal HAS to be the same one, any similar (SSB) signal will work. But the same signal will obviously provide ssb audio to beat against at the same times as the one you are listening to. A very quick google produced the following BFO diagrams that were used on a cheap radio that Superdrug sold. http://www.hanssummers.com/superdrg/superdrgbfo.html I know it costs more than the radio but there are also BFO kits available. I found a ten-tec 455khz (TT-1050) bfo on sale for £11.95. I use to use an external BFO with several radios. |
