We are a very active and friendly group that welcomes anyone from anywhere in the world who has an interest in Radio, regardless of their level of experience, their equipment, their location, or their radio preference. We have members varying from fully qualified operators on the Amateur Bands, to newcomers who have just bought a PMR446 set, and many CBers both old and new. All are equal on the Site.

The CT Site contains many reviews, tips and modifications within the forums, and we take pride that no sensible question is ever left unanswered, and nobody is ever belittled or mocked for asking an honest question, no matter how simple it may seem. We were all new to the hobby once.

Yes indeed Fish it is my fav' radio.....go long after Pro3 is sold.......they'll bury it with me!!!!.I've had it about 5 years.Bought it as new in box..one G3 owner from new for £1200.These cost £4500 new in 1989 on launch!!.I bought it from RCQ Communications.Dave who owns it is a 100% guy.I later bought the maching "Boxed" of coarse,SP5 speaker off E-bay from Kentucky in the USA.......got robbed import on it.It has the built in Timewave DSP unit. These are as rare as "Hens Teeth".I also have 2 matching MD1 desk mics for it .It is a fairly early model built in March 1990 (read the serial number.....also on original invoice that I have!!).I run it via a Drake L75 Linear on 40/80 meters through a Linear Amp UK balanced line Supertuner and a doublet wire antenna. The Drake will do 500 watts with just 20 watts drive. The FT1000 Delta will produce 225-240 watts out of the radio.Plus you need to be strong and have a "Mans" shack bench.......it weighs 25KG.......4 1/2 stones!!!!...........One last thing...................it's "Deffo" not for sale mate!!!!! ;)

Yes loads of DXers and Contesters in the States(who spend big,big money) prefer these radios to the modern Superrigs (IC7700/7800.FT9000)........I have an International Radio Roofing filter board to go in it that makes them RX even better.I know this is the best radio Yaesu have built in the last 20 years.I would love to buy a matching FT990 that is its smaller brother with a single receiver....and they fetch only about £600-£700 for a "Pukka" one.Guys give some of these "Classics" a chance.........rather have a FT990 than any FT857 ect.........."A Proper Radio" with no silly menus that drive you wild!!!

The ft990 was my first hf radio, got it from hayen comms in about 1995 wow what a radio just keep going back to buying them just wish there made it a little bit smaller it takes up so much room but now i just love using the pro3 i myself think at times its better than the ft2000 when people are down in the box the pro picks them out better and not as much set up.
