Dear All

I have just bought a new handheld INTEC H-520 PLUS.

I wish to use this in my motor car and want to know which is the very best mobile antenna to buy for this rig (that is NOT a magnetic mounted one).

Look forward to your expert replies! it is many years since I have used radio so am out of touch with the latest technology.

RSVP ASAP

Many Thanks

Daniel

Hi there, I have moved this topic to the correct forum!

Firstly, Welcome to the forum!

Right onto your question; There are a large choice of antennas that work well with a body mont (Drill a hold in your car) or a hatch mount (clips into the hinge area of the boot).

The differnt types of mounts can be seen here
http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/cb_antenna_mounts.htm

The antenna should be bigger the better so i have a link which will take you to the larger mobile whips, The Voygar is a nice antenna and not expensive, For static mobile the Tank Whip would be best but would need a suitable groundplane to work well.

Large antennas cand be seen here
http://www.thunderpole.co.uk/cbmobileantennas-large.html

The intek H520 has worked well for me with a 4ft firestick antenna in the car but i did use the mag mount, another antenna which works well is the Thunderploe Atom, only costs £10 and does the job well.

Other retailers are avaiilable

Hope this helps you out
Cheers :)

Thought Lee might have recommended a Bazooka duct-taped to a gutter-mount?

That "Mark in Essex" talks some sence about antennas.........I'm taking my Shakesphere down this weekend and replacing it with a Bazooka.........then I'm calling at our shop for some Menthal "Tunes"..............I like a "Chalenge!!!".Thunderpoles............I remember in the "Mists of Time" that signals could be heard in the "Ether Soup" from "Proper" Thunderpoles 1/2 and 3s when we rode Yamaha RD350 LCs and drove MK2 Escorts............Oggy walks off muttering about Rick Astley/Spagna/Tiffany and Sonya........LMAO

Just noticed that is an old pic no groundplane kit on the 9fter just a mag mount on a radiator...lol...i have worked most of europe on that in the loft...lol and brilliant for when the lightening strikes and all the external antennas get unplugged....worked Italy doing just that one day during a thunderstorm...on my old long gone S9 and a Bremi BRL100 or something like that, might have been the 3900
