I have many decent antennas, but require a "Biggy" with out resorting to Silverrods ect for when were on Nettleton Top.I've had top results with a genuine Pal Firestik (7').Can anyone on here (I know Firetraps a fan!!) give me a lowdown (Power/price ect ect!!) I know the concept has been used by the Yanks when they all used 1/4 wave whips on chain mounts, many had them on their rear crome bumpers in the 60's and 70's ....... |

I really like my tankwhip, its decent..BUT I too have a firestik + Groundplane radial kit(7ft) and it has had better reports than the tankwhip while static mobile so now i just use the firestik or the Thunderploe "Atom" which is also very good on RX & TX The tankwhip has done me well though, once you get the SWR right (which i found tricky) they do work well, i have had QSO's throughout europe using it when the skip was running. You can buy mine if you want lol, although i wouldn't know how to send such a long item in the post. |

7ft Thunderstick (a Thunderpole version of a 7ft Firestik) is the kiddie - the Tank Whip showed no improvement over the Modulator when used mobile. SWR on the Tank Whip is OK as long as it's not near anything - nearby objects have a big effect on this antenna. I'll be trying a Thunderpole Triple Load antenna this week - a triple top loaded Firestik type antenna. I also use a Thunderpole Tristar (a little radial kit) - it helps the SWR and perhaps makes the radiation pattern a little more even. Cheers Gary |
