Cool. You've done a nice job of that one, well done. ;)

Looks like you have the same set-up as me then: Antron straight into a 1:1 Balun (Line isolator) then short run of co-ax to an "Ugly Balun" (air-choke), then on to the transceiver. But I'm still getting that blasted RFI into the phones here though so that A99's got to go - I've added the baluns and ferrites and changed literally everything else (except the Power Supply) . . . mast, height, location of mast, route of co-ax, co-ax, plugs, low-pass filter, and even the radio.

I'd love to go for a Quad or Yagi but I really don't want to risk the ire of the neighbours that much, plus it'd involve a rotator and all that jazz, so it'll be an omni again. I'd also consider a wire dipole or Windom if I had the height but my max elevation is the single 20' pole so it really needs to be a vertical to get any height here. So my Great Decision now is what to get.... I keep looking at the "Proper" HF verticals but the idea of having to "tune them" or "set up the traps" for the required band(s) puts me right off, plus the prices are a bit savage unelss you get a good second-hand one. So that leaves the everpopular 11m "CB" Homebase antenna selections.

Currently in joint first place on my "shall I buy it or what" list are the Sirio 827 (plus anti-vib kit) and the Sigma Mantova Turbo . . . . Decisions decisions. Of course, regardless of what I end up with, I'm still hoping Taff is going to volunteer to do the leg work of raising the damn thing ;)

thats the trouble the market of simple off the shelf 11m antenna is antron/silver rod (in wales yer right lol) and the 827, bugger all,

hf stuff you have to play with a litle.

i would say 827 all the way, supposed to be pretty strong from what i hear, big old things though.

yes steve the same as yours, followed the plans in you email, i does the job.

also got the antenna up higher as well, before the base of the antron was inbetween the t and k bracket, now i have a clear shoot off all round

Glad you got it sorted Ed.

The Mantova looks interesting - 7 metres long though and the thing on the tip may catch the wind.

Maybe have to trawl the Internet for feedback on these.

Cheers
Gary

Tried that . . . . Found ONE review dated 2001. The one review was positive but that hardly overwhelming evidence .. .. .. and it's a bit galling that the price quoted in the review is $80, not the £135 :( we have to pay in good old rip-off-Britain.
