Each time I see your set-up, it's grown a little bit. Now I know your missus has this hatred of wires being in sight, and I don't want to sound all technical here, but I think that the SWR meter you have in your tower might just work a little better with the co-ax plugged into it - - I know "Radio" used to be called "the Wireless", but we still need some cables. Hmmm, cordless radio? That's be like dehydrated water.I had to laugh at your comment "my retro Nokia 8810". Until last year, that model of Nokia was light-years ahead of the one I was using regularly. Oh dammit, I think I must be OLD. |

I had to smile. . . . . there's a Dreamer on Fleabay selling a Team rig like yours Lee, with a "buy it now "of £250 !! Of course, Knights sell them, new, for under £70 and other places like Rocket for 59.99 but why buy new when you can get a used one for £250 (plus postage)? By that reckoning, my beat-up old Audioline in my workshop is probably worth a ton and a half

That little Midland looks very like one I had until a week or two ago, but I think mine was the 77/095. It was the most bombproof little CB I've ever owned as it used to live in my workshop space in my garage and was always the sacrificial lamb when I was testing an antenna or mic or anything else. One time I wanted to test one of my homebases and as my Missus was off to the shops I asked her to take the Midland and a mag mount and give me a shout from Tesco car-park. I got the homebase radio check but the signal from the Midland was truly awful and she barely heard me on RX. When the rig came back I got out my trusty multi-meter and then found the antenna cable had a dead-short, perfect continuity between the braid and the core. So that little Midland TXed over a mile on no aerial at all, and diidn't damage it's finals. Tough little beastie. It went a week or so ago as I had an oldfriend as a guest here who is tempted to get back into CB so I gave him the rig, a little SWR meter and an old antenna - He breaks anything, so I figured the Midland was the safest thing I had in the workshop to give him. |

Yeah seem s like a good sturdy "Test" radio, plus extra PSU's are always handy! especially for for £25, cant go wrong i think. Beats me why people dont get them like this instead on PMR radios, you could get 3 second hand rigs and extras for a pair of moderately priced PMR's I may even put the midland at work to save on call costs! |

That Midland is actually small enough to use as a hand-portable. I've seen variations on specific kits to make it so (I'm sure they were for the 77/104), a special custom-fit pouch on a strap with side pocket containing the battery section and so forth. But all you'd need is a PL259 to BNC plug, a rubber-duck antenna and 12v's worth of batteries in some form (a 12v dry-cell, 8x1.5v Duracells, or maybe even a small motorcycle batt). |

I've just got my Murphy base station, condition 9/10,just been running it,as I've been told and read the reviews ,the mains hum at low volumes is a right tw@t,other than using an external PSU,is there a known fix for this fault........how could they sell them like this??.Other than this "Forble" I just love the Retro "Ham" styling and it has some Radio 5 reports, and thats on the stock "Action Man" mic..........LOL  .A good little rig |

Pull the PSU out of it and put a quieter one in? Or try shielding the PSU - Gary/Offplanet - Didn't you have some success using the shielding from a PC power unit? |

I don't want to alter the PSU ,because its original, but shielding must be a good move, only other way is to (without drilling or anything fit in a 12v socket so when a power leads pluged it it disconnects the internal PSU put a laggy band round the 240 lead.......job done!!.I know this is a known problem, but its so annoying .still a top radio.Does anyone know what board they have inside,I guess an Amstrad/Mustang.I'm sure there not Uniden or Cyberspace!!
